Mr. Husband (indie-pop from Baltimore, MD)
Mr. Husband is the songwriting and comedy persona of Kenny Tompkins. Over the past five years Tompkins has issued several collections of home recordings of sunny-yet-art-damaged pop under the name New God which have found many fans including Line of Best Fit who called him "an aural ghost of a younger Brian Wilson." As Mr. Husband, Tompkins carries over some of those rays of sunshine into his first collection of guitar pop titled Plaid on Plaid. Recorded at his home in Maryland in a tiny one-bedroom apartment, the album tackles themes of growing up and facing hard truths about yourself with a knowing wink of self-deprecation.
Bishops (garage-fuzz-punk-rock-etc from HVA)
"Bishops' wall-of-sound approach to fuzz rock is easy to zone out to in the best of ways, bringing to mind early 90s acts like Bob Mould and Miracle Legion...Dream Easy revels in being in the thick of it, even as it's a cathartic release of anguish. For capturing an important moment in everyone's lives so thoroughly, Dream Easy is already one of my favorite albums of 2016." - Adobe and Teardrops
