The Saplings are an exciting, nine piece band based in Rochester, New York who offer a fresh brand of chamber-pop filled with a variety of musical flavors. Their contagious energy and witty humor create an unforgettable experience for audiences anywhere as they take each person on a journey through love songs, hate songs, and unavoidable fate songs. Made up of nine musicians from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, The Saplings draw on a range of creative influences including: Steely Dan, Talking Heads, Earth Wind & Fire, Frank Ocean, The Beatles, and The Beach Boys. Each member of The Saplings is an accomplished musician in their own right. Members of the band have played with Danielle Ponder & The Tomorrow People, THUNDER BODY, and at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival. As a further testament to their musicianship, the band has opened for THUNDER BODY, KNOWER, and will open for Giant Panda Guerilla Squad this January on a two-night show featuring John Brown’s Body and the Easy Star All-Stars as well. The Saplings released their first EP in April of 2017 and plan on recording their first full-length album in the spring of 2018.
Gryzzle is a Funk/Jazz/Hip-Hop/Rap band based out of Harrisonburg Virginia. This high-energy, multi-talented group is made up of mostly JMU music students.
